Sir Ian McKellan has finished filming his role as Gandalf in THE HOBBIT trilogy. Peter Jackson posted a photo to commemorate the teary-eyed event.
“Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf. The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I’m feeling very sad right now.”
While Peter Jackson may have finished shooting the incomparable Sir Ian McKellan, we still have two films to look forward to with the man, starting with THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, which opens December 13th. If McKellan’s presence isn’t enough (and it generally is), then maybe Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, Stephen Fry, Hugo Weaving, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Aidan Turner and Manu Bennett will be.
